DR FIXIT (AFRICA'S LONGEST POEM) VOLUME THREE

Image
The arrival of Lib Freegate’s fiancé, Jim, upsets Dr Fixit, the soldier ant and Lib’s secret friend and business partner, and disrupts his conveniently penning more scenes of his film script and this nearly mars their relationships (between Lib and Dr Fixit; and between Lib and Jim). Dr Fixit gives a condition for him to stay and the female journalist, Lib, meets it by confronting Jim with the truth. Later, his behind-the-back mockery of his fiancée’s worship of a pet of a soldier ant triggers off a reaction (as the soldier ant replies to Jim in fluent English) which seems like an event in a storybook. Jim wonders if the talking soldier ant is a science-created bug. (THIS VOLUME IS AVAILABLE HERE AS AN EBOOK, PAPERBACK AND HARDCOVER.)

DR FIXIT (AFRICA'S LONGEST POEM) VOLUME TWO

Image
Dr Fixit, back in his native continent, keeps writing his film script. In SCENE SIX, the troops break a core rule; in SEVEN, a commander reports two troops for smooching; in EIGHT, Dr Fixit preaches against romance in the camp but in NINE, his female second in command’s movements distract him and a stiff struggle ensues as he tries to banish the image from his mind. But the still small voice steals in to engage him in the theme of ‘love’ and he also points out the futility of Dr Fixit’s mission to save the world. The emotional and mental battle continues till SCENE THIRTEEN where the voice, quite jealous, transforms into a praying mantis and there is a violent physical fight between it and the soldier ant. (THIS VOLUME IS AVAILABLE HERE AS AN EBOOK, PAPERBACK AND HARDCOVER.)

DR FIXIT (AFRICA'S LONGEST POEM - VOLUME ONE)

'Dr Fixit (Africa's Longest Poem – Volume One' has a narrative in rhyme about a soldier ant which out of curiosity goes to play with a grasshopper but accidentally is flown from the jungle and ends up in a sugar factory and later with the sugar packs, is moved to a ship where he goes touring the world discreetly with the captain. He later abandons ship to explore the lives of humans more deeply and ends up partnering with an American female journalist and from books in her library, he starts practising how to write. With his love and talent for writing, he begins to write his script (after watching some epic films) and hopes to craft his fabulous box-office hit. With the journalist, he returns to his native continent and his dream too is gradually taking shape. In this volume is the draft of the first five scenes of 'Dr Fixit', the movie script about the good soldier ant who launches a massive mission to save a bad world. GAMBLERS MAKE BETTER LOVERS (AND OTHER STORIES)

Image
‘GAMBLERS MAKE BETTER LOVERS (AND OTHER STORIES)’ is a collection of eight short stories. It opens with ‘RATS ON RAMPAGE’ where the protagonist jilted by his girlfriend ends up fighting with the rats in his shack. ‘DOLLARS FROM LIBERIA’ follows – a servant runs away with his master’s suitcase but those benefiting from the ill-gotten wealth seem to end up in ill health or death. ‘THE PROPHETS’ depicts the chaos inflicted on gullible Christian families who would swallow hook, line and sinker the ‘prophecies’ of bogus ‘men of God’. ‘GAMBLERS MAKE BETTER LOVERS’ is the title story and portrays the pathetic situation of a young lady inflicted with a severe health problem who is afraid to seek expert medical help for fear of stigmatization. ‘A GIRL’S MIND (THE OMITTED CHAPTERS)’ is a tale of two lovebirds, Eddy and Etido, who (with the backdrop of chaos on campuses and in the larger society) continue to keep the lantern of their love burning. Eddy is seen making a superhuman effort (un...
