DR FIXIT (AFRICA'S LONGEST POEM) VOLUME TWO
Dr Fixit, back in his native continent,
keeps writing his film script. In SCENE SIX, the troops break a core rule; in
SEVEN, a commander reports two troops for smooching; in EIGHT, Dr Fixit
preaches against romance in the camp but in NINE, his female second in
command’s movements distract him and a stiff struggle ensues as he tries to
banish the image from his mind. But the still small voice steals in to engage
him in the theme of ‘love’ and he also points out the futility of Dr Fixit’s
mission to save the world. The emotional and mental battle continues till SCENE
THIRTEEN where the voice, quite jealous, transforms into a praying mantis and
there is a violent physical fight between it and the soldier ant.
